Well I'm finally off all of the medications and that has been a good thing. I can think straight again. I am also still learning my limits but, I have learned more about what I can do and what it costs me in pain to do the things I need to do. So with that in mind I have to say that I am still determined to finish this project but, I will be working at a pace that I can handle. That said, I still have to say that if I can do this just about anyone can.
Also I am in the process of building a 300 gallon solar batch water heater as our old water heater died and it is just crazy how expensive a new water heater is. So at this point I have been working on building the water heater slowly over the last 4 months. When I finish the solar water heater I will continue working on the outdoor kitchen. I will also add a link to the solar water heater build for anyone interested in that.
Since I first started the earth kitchen project we've had times of some unusual and extreme weather. unfortunately there are some areas on the large oven that have been damaged, however the oven is still fully usable and still works great. Most of the damage has happened to the base. As it turns out when water runs down the vertical walls off of the counter the water will dig out a hole very quickly. Most of the whitewash has also come off. So one of the first things I'll need to do is to patch same areas and then make some lime stucco to redo the finish on the oven and base. I'm going to use the lime stucco this time because it's much tougher and will protect the oven better than just the whitewash. Since it's going to take me a while before I can get a roof over the kitchen area the stucco should be a good way to protect the oven.
So until my next post, be happy and smile because no matter your situation there's too much good in life not to smile.
